![]() Why is that? Is it mainly the artistry of the animators at Dreamworks? Or is there something in the software that helps (or hinders)?įor myself, I feel that as you add elements and complexity to the animation the timeline very very fast becomes unmanageable in Poser, and when you see 300 little boxes on the animation pane it gets very very difficult to remember what is what - I always find it much easier to animate the first keyframes, as everything is clear, than refining and improving existing segments, as everything is crowded. ![]() For some reason, as you carry the animation through its stages in Poser it doesn't gain grace. It should be possible, but yet it's incredibly difficult to do that efficiently in Poser. ![]() Yet, animating those 30 seconds with the same grace and fluidity, that's where the "pig twisted its tail", as we say in my native country. So Poser should meet the rendering requirements to make the first 30 seconds of that movie efficiently. Even the eyebrows and eyelashes are solid color, and the shadowing is static! 30 seconds fps = 720 frames, and Poser can render those within a few minutes on that quality. Poser can very very easily make that one frame, exactly as it is (given the rig, that is). It takes dozens of people to make a movie, but one animator should be able to make the first 30 seconds of that movie within a reasonable time. True, that's why I referred to the first 30 seconds. And let's not forget, Pixar used to take almost 5 years to do a film because they would take several hours to days to render one frame. And a large team of professionals working on them. The difference is that companies like DreamWorks and Pixar have enormous render farms. Static items weren't a problem for me.Īrtwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!ĭue to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :( I've did some static ones, but never animated Poser stuff in Muvizu or imported animated stuff. In theory you can import Poser items into Muvizu. It was really fun to do though and Muvizu made it a lot easier then doing it in Poser or Vue. Took me a while to create, but only because my computer at that time was slow in rendering and didn't have enough RAM. I once did a full animated story with it about10 minutes. What you're looking for is something like Muvizu It's pretty easy to use and gets you great results. You would need to animate frame by frame to get it done. Poser can do that, but it's not going to be easy and a lot of work. ![]() what do you think? And then comes the fatidical question - why can't Poser offer the same? (d) Easiness to rig different clothes to your character (b) Automation of walking, grabbing and holding (a) Allowing a team to work on parts of the animation (like: one does movement, one walking, one the talking, one the cameras, one the camera) ![]() So that's the question - what do you think are the most important things the Dreamworks software probably has that makes it easier for the animators to make such beautiful work? Now, Dreamworks probably has several millions (or tens of millions) of dollars invested in special software, and that certainly adds something to the animation. Yet, I fell in love with it on the first 5 seconds - it's incredibly charming, has effortless movements, endearing expressions and an easy fluidity that you can clearly feel - that's the work of a master animation group! The beautiful song helps too, but let's keep the song aside. Now, I understand Dreamworks does have a lot of special software in there, but this short is (probably deceptively) simple - no photorealism, no complicated textures, no cloth or liquid simulation (that I could notice), no crowd simulations, and only one short metaball effect (from the pie fillings, could be done from normal spheres too I think). That is from Dreamworks (specifically, from DreamworksTV, a cable series in Canada distributing shorts from - you got it - Dreamworks). Consider the first 30 seconds of this short: ![]()

![]() ![]() Calcifer, Heen, and Turnip head are such adorable and fun characters to watch (and Heen and Turnip have pretty much no lines in the whole movie). I personally adore almost all the characters, though I actually like Sophie the least of all. Each character has their good points, even the Witch of the Waste. I think all the seiyuu in the movie were good as well.Ĭharacter: The characters in this movie make up for all the lack of closure in the plot. ![]() Hearing Sophie's bones crack as an old woman is really painful, and as much as I don't like Sophie's voice, her seiyuu does a great job at portraying the character and how she fluctuates between young and old so frequently throughout the movie. Aside from the beautiful soundtrack, the sounds in the movie are so dead on. I love every single background music in this movie, and the only song I don't like so much is the theme with the words that plays at the end. Sound: I'll just start off by saying the music in this movie is so beautiful. Overall this is the most impressive Miyazaki art I've seen and I really haven't seen much that can top it. I also have to say that I am impressed with how Sophie is animated, and how it is so easy to tell when she is aging/regressing just simply by looking at the animation (her voice also helps). Even after watching the movie so many times I cannot fully explain some scenes and still have questions about the movie.Īnimation: The animation is absolutely stunning and many of the backgrounds look realistic. There were also a lot of small things throughout that they could have done a better job at explaining. Overall, I felt many of the war scenes were overdramatized and left a lot of questions. Though I have to admit I see more flaws with the story after reading the book (even though I find the movie much better). Only part I felt was lacking in this movie. Story: the story is about a girl named Sophie who gets turned into an old woman and ends up living with a wizard named Howl in his moving castle. And yes, it may seem like I rate highly but for some i was between 9 or 10, and I have explained things that I disliked that may not reflect in my number ratings. ![]() I have watched this movie many many times since it is one of my favorite Miyazaki films, so why not write a review? I have also read the book, which takes a much different direction than the film does. In an endeavor to return to normal, Sophie must accompany Howl and a myriad of eccentric companions-ranging from a powerful fire demon to a hopping scarecrow-in his living castle, on a dangerous adventure as a raging war tears their kingdom apart. Unfortunately, this encounter, brief as it may be, spurs the vain and vengeful Witch of the Waste-in a fit of jealousy caused by a past discord with Howl-to put a curse on the maiden, turning her into an old woman. However, Sophie's simple life takes a turn for the exciting when she is ensnared in a disturbing situation, and the mysterious wizard appears to rescue her. Sophie, as the plain daughter of a hatmaker, does not expect much from her future and is content with working hard in the shop. That castle is home to the magnificent wizard Howl, infamous for both his magical prowess and for being a womanizer-or so the rumor goes in Sophie Hatter's small town. ![]() That jumbled piece of architecture, that cacophony of hissing steam and creaking joints, with smoke billowing from it as it moves on its own. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The settings can be toggled to let users decide whether using Snap shows which other windows can be snapped, if adjacent windows will be automatically resized, and whether Snap will make windows adjust to fill available space.
